Ban Presents No Block for Brooklyn, N.Y., Builder.

Feb. 10--Despite standing accused of trying to bribe federal officials, a Brooklyn contractor was awarded more than $7 million in state funds for construction contracts, Controller Alan Hevesi announced yesterday.

Vassilios Tsimitras, owner of Olympia Construction, was on a government list of banned contractors after allegedly attempting to bribe officials and managers to allow an improperly installed beam to remain in place.
