I was dismayed to read Waldo Jaquith's column in your May issue on the Democratic National Committee's National Voter Database Project. As Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party and President of the Association of State Democratic Chairs, I know first hand what the problems were in the 2004 cycle, and how far we've come as a national party in building a reliable and state-of-the-art voter file.
