Nevada officials found a much more receptive audience in President Bush than they expected during an Oval Office meeting last week on their concerns about DOE's plans to build a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nev.

Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham is expected this week to recommend the site to Bush, who... would then decide whether to present it to Congress for approval. The state's Republican governor, Kenny Guinn, has vowed to veto a presidential site recommendation, which Congress could override.
