SENATE INTRODUCES 1999 WRDA: On March 2, Senate Environment & Public Works (EPW) Committee Chairman John Chafee (R-R.I.) and six other senators introduced the 1999 Water Resources Development Act (S. 507), which authorizes an estimated $2.1 billion in federal funds for projects and studies covering flood control, navigation, environmental restoration and shore protection.
