Factional Leader Announces Campaign for Japan's Prime Minster Position.

Aug. 24--TOKYO--Masahiko Komura, head of a faction in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), indicated Sunday he will run in the Sept. 20 LDP presidential election against Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.

Speaking at a faction seminar in the resort town of Karuizawa in Nagano Prefecture, the former foreign minister criticized Koizumi's austere fiscal policies, adding he will make a formal announcement later this month.
