The requirement to begin construction is $700,000. Fund raising began during Transportation Corps week in July 2000 and has continued at an enthusiastic pace. The Foundation was represented at the NDTA Forum in Albuquerque, NM, in October 2000. Attendees were provided the Pictorial History of Army Transportation and other materials about the museum, along with a brochure explaining the Millennium Expansion Program.
The majority of funds already collected are from individuals. Transportation Corps units, active, U. S. Army Reserve and National Guard, have been contacted and challenged to support the project. In addition, foundations that support educational projects are also being contacted.
The Foundation is now looking to the transportation industry, local businesses and other organization and corporations for their support. Transportation industry leaders have been sent letters describing the expansion and offered the opportunity to invest in the future of Army Transportation through support of this fine educational facility.
