Dear Journal Editor:

Nobel Prize (Economics) winner and University Professor at Columbia University Joseph Stiglitz has a much more economics oriented estimate of the full costs of the Iraq [war] at his web site. An interesting read--check it out. [Editor's note: You can read the article

at http://www.columbia.edu/cu/news/06/04/stiglitz.html.] Your estimates on page 42 of the (Spring 2006) issue of Armed Forces Comptroller are too "accounting" oriented in the context of full economic costing for decision support at the national Level. His numbers far exceed yours-in the range of $2 trillion, plus the injured and loss of life.

Otherwise, congratulations on a fine issue. Keep up the good work.

Larry Feltes, Lt. Col, USAF, Ret.
