Faced with ambiguous messages in the form of misleading advertising, celebrity endorsement and substantial claims of success, consumers are unable to make informed

Furthermore, Health Which? found that some claims that there were no long-term side effects or complications associated with LASIK, the most popular procedure, were simply bogus. Disturbingly, findings showed that the so-called 'minor' side effects such as dry eyes, night time starbursts and reduced contrast sensitivity occur fairly frequently. CA and Health Which? are calling for new guidelines in order that safety standards are met and consumers are provided with the hard facts about laser eye surgery.
