special revenue fund

in government accounting , fund used to account for the proceeds of special revenue sources (other than special ssessments, expendable trusts, or major capital projects) that are legally restricted to expenditure for specified purposes. Examples of special revenue funds are those established for the purpose of financing schools, parks, or libraries.
