reflection
the ability of a computer program to obtain information about itself. Some computer languages, such as
LISP
and
Prolog
, support extensive reflection; the program can treat itself as data. In Microsoft .NET Framework, the reflection subsystem allows a running program to obtain information about its classes (object types).
