speed and ease with which a particular security may be bought and sold. A stock that has a large amount of shares outstanding and is actively traded is highly marketable and also liquid. In common use, marketability is interchangeable with liquidity , but liquidity implies the preservation of value when a security is bought or sold.

Example: A single-family house in an active market typically provides greater marketability than a farm or ranch in a rural area.
