Business Definition for: accelerator

Dictionary of Computer and Internet Terms

accelerator

a device that makes an operation run faster. For example, a graphics accelerator is a card that contains built-in circuits for performing graphics operations, allowing the system to render graphics more quickly than would be the case if the microprocessor bore the entire load.
