Composite Panel Products

Arespan S.p.A. panel components are distributed in the U.S. by Peter Meier Inc. Products include panels topped with scratch resistant, high-pressure laminates in white and other colors, and veneered plywood available in 16 different veneers. Custom thicknesses and sizes are available.

Fiberesin Industries Inc. says its HPP Panels are based on technology that allows for the manufacture of phenolic-backed melamine laminate directly on particleboard. The HPP Panel is available in single or double-faced sizes up to 4-ft by 8ft and in thicknesses of 1/8 in. and up (subject to substrate density limits). Fiberesin says the panels meet or exceed all performance and thickness specifications for NEMA General Purpose laminates and are obtainable in custom constructions as required.

Fibrex, a new generation of thin fiberboard from Flakeboard, is now available in flexible widths, lengths and thicknesses. With added features such as in-line sanding and direct lamination capabilities, Flakeboard says Fibrex is perfectly suited for a wide range of applications including display panels, mouldings, wall paneling, furniture and more.

Interior Products Inc. has developed Timberflex, a 0.75-in.-thick bendable substrate. It has a flat, smooth, odor-free and paintable poplar face, and there is no need for sanding, patching, or filling prior to application of laminate or veneer to surface. It bends without veneer checking, valley, dips or voids on radii as small as 5 in.

EcoColors' particleboard panels, made from agricultural straw waste, are an environmentally responsible alternative to plastic laminate panels, according to the company. It is available in thicknesses of 3/8 in., 1/2 in., 3/4 in., and 1 1/8 in. Custom colors are available.

SierraPine MDF is produced with over 95% Ponderosa and Sugar Pine resulting in a light colored, easily machined panel, the company says. It is offered in a wide range of thicknesses from 3/16 in. to 1 5/8 in. with panel sizes up to 5 ft by 18 ft. Standard and high densities are also available.

Columbia Forest Products, manufacturers of hardwood veneers and plywood, now offers prefinished hardwood plywood. Columbia Forest Products operates plywood, hardwood veneer and laminating facilities in 17 locations throughout the United States.

States Industries offers complete remanufacturing services for any of its veneered panel products, including ApplePly, ArmorCore and Nova prefinished panels. From ready-to-assemble drawer packages to complete architectural installations, panel goods can be fully processed and finished at the mill, States says.

Temple's Solidium combines the benefits of 100% pine chips, super refining and a continuous press production process. This combination makes Solidium highly machinable with profiles that hold clean, crisp details, Temple says. Solidium panels are also easier to laminate and paint, the company adds.

Weyerhauser Co.'s Profiled Particleboard Door Core is an engineered, low-density product designed for use with molded door faces. This door core can be profiled to facilitate the use of any style or size molded door face to produce a solid core door, the company says. The Marshfield, WI, plant is centrally located to assure competitive delivery and prompt service, according to the company.

AllGreen MDF is the first MDF made from 100% recovered resources, CanFibre says. The panels exceed ANSI 280.2 standards, with superior moisture-resistance and dimensional stability, the company says. AllGreen MDF's smooth faces and consistent internal core make it an ideal panel for furniture, cabinetry and architectural millwork, its makers say.

Georgia-Pacific Corp. says its FiberStrate-MR is a versatile alternative to the composite wood substrates currently available for industrial millwork applications. The product is extremely moisture and decay resistant and can be used reliably for indoor and outdoor applications, the company says.

Uniboard Canada Inc. says it has gained a reputation for its ability to innovate and adapt to the requirements of its clients. Its panel products can be found trader the brand names Panval (melamine-surfaced particleboard), Forpan (particleboard), Panfibre (MDF) and Panfoil (decorative overlay particleboard). Uniboard recently opened its seventh plant in La Baie, Quebec.

Tafisa's collection of Tafilam melamine panels, edgebanding and the recently introduced decorative mouldings are available in colors selected to endure the effects of time, including the latest solid colors and woodgrains, the company says. The Tafilam range pays tribute to the harmony inherent in nature, according to the company, and includes green, red and blue tones.

Industrial Dimensions Inc. offers a full-color brochure featuring the company's capabilities as a producer of panels, fabricated parts and slatwall panels laminated in melamine, vinyl and top-coated papers.

Rock-Tenn Co.'s Paperboard Products Division is a manufacturer of laminated, solid-fiber paperboard, offering a full line of specialty panel products for furniture manufacturers. The company says its Furniture Board is ideal for manufacturers requiring cost-effective structural and decorative materials for case and cabinet backs, mirror backs, drawer bottoms and dustproofing.

Tricel Honeycomb Corp. says its honeycomb panels are as strong as particleboard but weigh between 50% and 80% less, allowing companies to cut handling costs.

Boise Cascade offers industrial particleboard and new fine-faced decorative panels for office and residential furniture, as well as kitchen and bathroom cabinetry.

Longlac Wood Ind. manufactures Multi-Core, a hardwood plywood panel that the company says has low formaldehyde emissions while providing durability and screw holding and lighter weight. Multi-Core features an engineered wafer core together with aspen hardwood cross bands and hardwood face and back veneers in oak, birch and other species.

Masonite offers Duron hardboard in pre-painted panels. Furniture components can be custom produced to match almost any color or woodgrain finish. Three topcoats are available: catalyzed for improved durability; recoatable for improved adhesion of additional treatments; and UV cured for abrasion resistance.

H&R Wood Specialties offers laminated panels for the RTA furniture, contract furniture, speaker component and toy/hobby industries. The vinyls and PVC thermofoils are available in a selection of solid colors, woodgrains and marble patterns.

Duratex says its Botucatu mill, one of the world's largest hardboard plants, meets ISO 9002 requirements for quality assurance.

Responding to what it sees as a trend toward "soft edge" manufacturing, Northway Industries offers the ability to radius and shape 3mm PVC edgebanding for both cosmetic and practical purposes on its laminated panel products.

Counter Point offers a variety of components including fabric-covered panels, foam chair arms, plastic laminate work surfaces, metal fabrications and an array of edge treatments including urethane foam, solid elastomer urethane, T-molding and edgebanding.

IWP Displays & Components offers precision wood and plastic components to the window, furniture and fixture industries. IWP can design and engineer components and has a fully furnished assembly department.

Northlam says it has increased its boring and routing capacity and is gearing up to service the store fixture industry. Its new ONC machining center features a useful working stroke allowing profiling of up to 6-in.-thick material (particleboard, MDF and solid woods). It also features a large working field of 55 in. x 125 in. (1,400mm x 3,200mm).

PrimeWood Inc. offers Wide Wrap profile wrap, which it says can wrap material up to 27 in. wide in applications such as kitchen and baths, door and drawer fronts, flipper doors for office furniture, etc. It is offered in lineal lengths from 4 ft to 16 ft and is available with radius and beveled radius edge profiles. Veneer options include: cherry, red oak, maple, poplar, hickory and birch, which are sanded and ready to finish. The core material is WheatBoard; other materials are also available.

Panolam has created its first designer palette, a collection featuring unique abstract patterns and woodgrain designs of Panolam thermally fused decorative panels. The company says the designer palette helps meets the needs of fabricators and designers who are using Panolam panels in office furniture, store fixtures, residential furniture and kitchen and bath cabinets.

Solid Wood Parts

Andover Wood Products Inc. offers custom-fabricated, edge-glued panels in lot sizes of 100 or more from the primary species of hard rock maple, red oak, white ash, white pine, birch and soft maple. Andover says all custom edge-glued panels are manufactured to high craftsmanship standards to meet the customer's exact specifications for quality and on-time delivery.

Sparta Spoke Factory says it makes precise mortise-and-tenon joints, including chair parts. The company adds it guarantees 100% quality parts on tune.

Adams Wood Products offers hollow table columns and matching feet in single- and double pedestals in a variety of wood species. The company says there is no minimum quantity required and that orders are shipped from stock.

Catawissa Lumber offers edge-glued panels and semi-machined panels from Appalachian hardwoods.

George Guenzler and Sons offers a color catalog showcasing its full range of turned and carved furniture, stair components, tables and stools. Guenzler offers a full range of secondary manufacturing including carving, rope twisting, fluting and reeding. The company says it specializes in custom work.

Northern Hardwoods offers semi-finished component parts to custom specifications for edge-glued panels up to 36 in. wide, fingerjoint material, tongue-and-groove paneling, pattern mouldings, moulder blanks, exotic woods and tenoned parts. Available species include hard maple, red maple, yellow birch, aspen and red oak.

Everglow Inc. manufactures wooden legs for the furniture and upholstery industry. The company custom makes chair frames, Queen Anne legs, turned legs, square legs, and more.

Foremost Wood Products manufactures stile and rail door components, thin cut lumber, stave doors and custom wood grilles for doors and windows. The company says it specializes in hardwoods and that it manufactures all products to customer specifications.

Josef's Art Woodturning and Son has been manufacturing production and custom turnings since 1977. The company produces table legs, columns, spindles, balls, stairposts and baluster in all domestic and exotic species. The company also offers many secondary options such as rope twisting, fluting and reeding.

Midwest Hardwood offers quality hardwood products which are produced at its three sawmills in Wisconsin.

Utilizing vacuum, conventional and radio frequency kilns, Brookville Wood Products specializes in 3-in. by 3-in. solid red oak squares, as well as other Pennsylvania hardwood species and dimensions.

C.B. Cummings and Sons' manufacturing capabilities brochure details its full line of hardwood components including: dowel rods, glue pins, mouldings and custom-manufactured hardwood dowel products. An inventory of 24-in., 36-in. and 48-in. dowel rods and spiral and metric glue pins is available.

Norwalk's new literature explains the company's abilities in producing piece goods and component parts, and in supplying hardwood dimension and panel stock to manufacturers.

Colonial Craft introduces SmartWood certified hardwood components. SmartWood certification ensures sustainable forest management, according to the company. Smartwood is accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The components are available in a variety of popular hardwoods.

Champion supplies hardwood and softwood products for cabinet, furniture and fixture manufacturers. Champion also produces custom hardwood flooring and architectural moulding. Custom profiles can be manufactured for a variety of species upon receipt of a sample or drawing.

Cortrim Hardwood Parts Co. manufactures high-quality hardwood and pine components for the furniture, architectural and casket industries.

Thompson Maple Products specializes in dowels, dimensions, squares and large turning blanks made from Appalachian white ash, white hard maple and black cherry. Bethel Furniture Stock Inc. adds fully machined parts to its product line of custom chair seats and bent parts. All component parts are manufactured to customer specifications. Species include red oak, maple, yellow birch, white ash and cherry.

Doors & Drawers

Custom dovetail drawer boxes are available in hard maple and red oak from Conestoga Wood Specialties. The 5/8-in. drawers have sides that are solid wood with cleanly matched dovetail corners. Options include hand pulls, notching for undermount slides and 3/8-in. bottoms in hard maple. They come assembled and pre-finished. Custom sizes are also available.

Susquehanna Valley Woodcrafters Inc. is offering solid wood custom 5/8-in. dovetail drawer boxes for the kitchen, bath and furniture industries. Options include: 1/4-in. and 3/8-in. bottoms, assembled and RTA, finished and unfinished, hand pulls, notching for undermount slides, bread box and several edge profiles.

Elite Finishings manufactures painted MDF doors featuring raised panel, recessed panel, quarter circle mullion and curved doors. Stock colors are frost white and bright white. Custom colors and door styles are also available. The finish is non-yellowing, catalyzed and oven-cured and is available in either a satin or high-gloss finish.

St. Croix Valley Hardwoods Inc. produces hardwood dimension components, including profiled edge-glued panels, face frame, dovetailed drawer sides and fully machined drawer fronts and door thresholds. Products are available in red oak, white oak, soft maple, aspen, hard maple, cherry and hickory.

Great lakes Wood Products offers a line of custom-veneered raised panel door inserts. Panels consist of plain sliced red oak veneers laminated to a machined MDF substrate for cabinet door insert panels or wainscotting panels. Great Lakes makes all of its products on a custom basis and has no minimum order requirements.

Decore-ative Specialties offers a line of cabinet door styles designed to enhance the look of Old West, Southwest or rustic style homes. The doors also look great when distressed, the company says.

Horizon CNC Products is a maker of custom cabinet doors and accessories for cabinetmakers and refacers. It offers products in unfinished MDF and rigid thermofoil in 21 stocked colors including Solar Oak and Gloss Antique White. A wide selection of raised panel, recessed and slab-style doors, pilasters and accent pieces, valances and wainscotting in available.

Meridian Products has solid wood dovetailed drawer boxes available assembled or unassembled, finished or unfinished, in oak, birch, cherry or maple. A wide select, on of finishes is also available.

Eurofronts Inc. manufactures a line of custom-sized thermofoil door and drawer fronts called "Eurofoil Doors." They are available in many styles and profiles, in 14 different colors.

Valendrawers offers drawer components in beech and birch plus PVC over particleboard. Joint styles include chuck and bore, dovetail and dowel and bore.

Mod-U-Line offers universal file drawer systems. The systems are modeled in decorator colors of putty, beige, brown, black and white. They are engineered with rounded corners throughout for easy cleaning. These one-piece polystyrene drawers operate quietly and accommodate loads up to 75 lbs, the company says.

Carr Cabinet Doors offers RTF doors and drawer fronts. Deluxe materials of vinyl, fiberboard and melamine are used, Carr says. Doors and drawer fronts come in many styles, various colors and custom sizes with no minimum order requirements. Also, Carr offers wood dovetailed drawer boxes as well as wood doors, drawer fronts and architectural panels.

CabParts offers components for cabinet boxes, drawer boxes and casework in white, almond, gray and natural maple in G25 thermal-fused 6/8-in. or 3/4-in. melamine. Parts are cut to size, dadoed for backs, milled for dowels and edgebanded. CabParts also offers parts from wood veneer, MDF, slab-type doors and fronts in melamine and MDF in a variety of custom sizes.

Drawer Box Specialties says that for more than a decade it has been servicing the needs of small to large shops in a wide variety of industries. Its pre-finished solid maple drawers in hard and soft maple are available bull-nosed and dovetailed in specific heights and custom widths and depths.

Precision Wood Products provides custom-made doors to the cabinet-making industry, including a wide variety of Shaker-style doors. The company ships doors via ground freight from its Camden, OH, and Lamonte, MO, locations.

White Oak Custom Woodworking Ltd. offers a wide variety of door styles including mitered, applied moulding, Shaker, mullion, raised panel, flat panel and MDF.

Keystone Wood Specialties offers dovetailed drawer boxes in both 1/2-in. and 5/8-in. solid stock. Standard species include red oak, maple and mahogany. Numerous options are available on the drawers, which can be ordered in heights ranging from 2 to 12 in. Custom widths and depths are available in 1/16-in. increments, the company says.

Mi-Lin Wood Products specializes in drawer boxes for both kitchen cabinets and case goods. The drawer boxes are available in beech sycamore, white oak and hard maple. Products come dovetailed, assembled or unassembled and finished or unfinished. The company also offers kitchen cabinet framing, mouldings and glued panels.

Hughes Hardwood serves customers primarily in the cabinet making, furniture and mobile home manufacturing industries. L.B. Plastics says the Sheerglide drop front drawer eliminates the need for drawer fronts or handles and is suitable for storage trays within cabinets and furniture. Premier EuroCase manufactures component systems, including door and drawer fronts made of melamine, high-pressure laminate and veneers. The company also offers cut-to-size services and irregular shape routing and profiles.

Western Dovetail manufactures solid wood dovetailed drawer boxes and offers custom drawer boxes shipped within 10 days of the order.

Northern Contours says its Shaker Door collection design has clean lines for a custom kitchen. The doors are hand-sanded and carefully inspected before packaging, the company says. An adhesive is also added that offers heat resistance.

Valley Custom Door manufactures solid wood cabinet doors, drawer fronts and dovetail drawer boxes. All products are custom made to specified sizes and may be ordered unfinished or prefinished in one of five standard colors. Custom stain matching is also available. Valley says it ships unfinished products within eight to 10 working days and prefinished products within 15 working days.

Woodcraft Industries Inc. manufactures and assembles doors and coordinating drawer fronts to customer specifications. All popular door styles, including mortise and tenon, mitered, mullion and curved doors are available. Drawer front options include one- or five-piece construction. All doors, drawer fronts and components can be finish-line ready with faces and edges finish-sanded to customer specifications.

Cabinet Factory's selection of custom doors and wood products is featured in a 21-page, full-color catalog. It highlights the company's quarter-circle, raised panel, flat panel, slab and batten, mitered, raised and applied mouldings, mullions and RTF doors. Also highlighted are dovetailed drawers, pull-out shelves, face frames, wainscot and custom accessories in a variety of stains and finishes.

Eurodrawer offers precision-machined, vinyl-clad, miterfold drawers manufactured to customer specifications. The company has three manufacturing locations: Mocksville, NC; Washington, IN; and Medford, OR.

Witmer Wood Products offers custom dovetailed solid wood drawers in aspen, birch, cedar, hard maple, red oak and walnut. Drawers are available in any size in 1 1/16-in. increments with 1/2-in. or 5/8-in. sides.

CCF Ind.'s dovetailed drawers are constructed from cabinet-grade 9-ply baltic birch. No minimum orders are required.

Roberts Plywood's MDF radius doors are suitable for lacquer finishing. The doors have a 12-in. outside radius and are 3/8 in. and 1 1/2 in. thick. They are available in 31-, 47- and 94-in. lengths. The company also offers doors that have a 24-in. outside radius and 1/8-in. rounds that are 31 in. or 47 in. high.

Patrick Industries Inc. introduces cabinet doors with woodgrain full paper wraps in oak, pine, maple and a variety of solid colors. The company says that a 360 [degrees] seal provides these wraps with greater moisture resistance and a more durable finish.

RKS Laminates has added two new mullion doors to its Thermolam line. The company now has 16 mullion-type door models available. The doors are available in four finishes and various edge details.

Curved Shapes

Burns Wood Products makes curved plywood parts including chair shells, seats, arms, legs, chair backs, table rims, chair frames and more.

Blackstone Wood Products offers curved plywood to help solve design and manufacturing problems faced by furniture manufacturers.

Meppelink Woods Inc. manufactures high-quality curved and flat plywood. Northern hardwood veneer is used on furniture hacks, seats and exposed wood frames. Complete machining and finishing are also available.

Hendricks Woodworking offers curved components to meet customer specifications. The company can match profiles to produce crown mouldings for arches as well as level curves in both concave and convex applications. Also offered are arched face flames which are available in all wood species, sanded and ready to finish.

Anderson International Trading is a distributor of curved plywood components. Products include quarter rounds from a 2-in. radius, to relieve a sharp edge on a cabinet, to one 60-in. radius for the back of a large restaurant booth. Custom parts are available.

L.I. Laminates, distributors of Deco Shapes curved plywood, now stock MDF solid half rounds with 2-in., 3-in. and 4-in. diameters. Half-round mouldings offer a full bullnose effect and can be used for trim applications. They can be painted, plastic laminated, profile wrapped or finished in any other conventional material.

Geometric Forms offers curved geometric plywood components such as quarter rounds, half rounds and full cylinders for use in kitchen and bath cabinets. Other applications include contemporary furniture wall units, entertainment centers, room partitions, desks, armoires, workstations, decorative columns and exhibit displays.

Shapes Unlimited Inc. has introduced a new line of table bases available in 13 geometric shapes. They can be shipped finished in high-pressure laminate or wood veneers, Leveler and mounting plates are optional.

Cubicon Corp. has made its veneered bases available for sale in small quantities. The company says it will take orders for as few as one base. Made from 100% recycled paper, base sizes range from 6 in. to 32 in. in diameter. They are generally a 9-ply material and equal 3/8 in. in thickness. They come in red oak, cherry, maple, walnut, mahogany, ash and white oak, as well as metal and plastic.

Decorative Mouldings & Trim

AccuWrap Moulding offers custom moulding, profile wrapped components, component end stamping, cut-to-size mitering and other services for the furniture, picture frame, kitchen and architectural industries. Wraps include paper, wood veneer and vinyl.

Klise manufactures carved and embossed wood mouldings made from more than 5,000 pattern and size combinations. The company has in-house tooling capabilities for custom designs, and it can produce mouldings for limited edition pieces and large production runs. Klise offers many wood species, including mahogany, walnut, oak, ash, pine and maple - all dried in the company's kilns.

Will-Trim medium density fiberboard mouldings and board products from Willamette Industries provide builders with an alternative to solid wood. It can be precisely machined and provides a smooth surface for painting. Will-Trim moulding products are available in lengths up to 16 ft in a full line of standard moulding patterns. The trim board products are available in standard i by 2 to 1 by 12 nominal dimensions in 8-, 14- and 16-ft lengths. Both products come factory primed with two coats of primer.

Spartan Plastic exhibits a full line of furniture trims, including T-mouldings, adhesive-backed trims and staple-on components, in a variety of finishes and textures.

Kuehn Bevel decorative edges Offer design alternatives for a custom design look, the company says. These edges utilize Corian and Formica Surell solid surface materials and are available in a wide variety of colors and profiles.

Half-round hardwood rope moulding from Outwater Plastics Industries Inc. comes in oak, maple and poplar in 8-ft lengths. It can be stained or painted and can be used as trim on furniture or as tack-on moulding for borders on cabinets. The moulding is also available in custom-ordered wood species and sizes.

Extrudawood from CPI Plastic combines the flexibility and durability of plastic with the look and feel of natural wood. The technology uses a proprietary plastic composite which can be extruded to any shape, in many wood colors and textures, for both interior and exterior applications. It does not absorb moisture, will not rot and will retain its appearance for years, the company says.

JMS offers full-round and half-round rope mouldings in oak, alder, maple and poplar. Size availability ranges from 3/8 in. to 24 in. in diameter. Stair balusters and posts with rope, twist and fluted designs are also manufactured by the company.

Fitzpatrick & Weller Inc. offers laminated squares, case goods, casket parts, edge-glued panels, stair case parts, kitchen cabinet parts and mouldings. The main species of wood Offered are hard and soft maple, cherry, red and white oak and ash.

More than 1,000 open line moulding designs are offered by Ornamental Products. A variety of straight profile, dentil, bead, embossed, carved, turned rope and laser-cut mouldings are available in maple, red oak, cherry, hickory, poplar or other customer-selected woods. Pliable mouldings, which are bendable by hand, are featured.

White County Moulding is a high-volume manufacturer of Appalachian hardwood mouldings. Quality is maintained through vertical integration from mill to finished product, the company says. WCM specializes in stock and custom profile, handrail, shutter components and flooring accessories.

Ply-Mould, offers profile wrapped and moulded parts for kitchen cabinets, promotional furniture, RTA, furniture and office furniture companies.

Penn Wood Products produces hardwood lumber, mouldings and flooring from Appalachian-area timber. Penn can produce kiln-dried lumber, dimensioned parts, moulded parts, trim mouldings, picture frame mouldings and flooring. Penn says it offers mouldings to complement flooring installations. It stocks a complete line of mouldings and can ship in one day.

Nickell Moulding produces a variety of custom wood and wrapped profiles for the furniture and cabinet industries. Nickell's products include an array of paper, foil and wood veneer-wrapped profiles as well as raw or finely finished solid woods.

Laminate Flooring

Wilsonart offers high-pressure laminate flooring in both planks and tiles. Plank sizes are 7 3/4 in. by 46 1/2 in. and are available in 15 woodgrain patterns. Tiles are 15 1/2-in. squares and come in a wide array of colors and styles, including abstract, stone, marble and terrazzo.

BHK of America offers its Steps Uniclic glueless laminate flooring. According to the company, the installation process time is cut in half and is much cleaner. The joints between the panels are made moisture-resistant with the application of a sealant to the tongue and groove during the manufacturing process, allowing the glue to dry with no waiting.

TekWood MDF is manufactured using Premium Asian Hardwoods by PrimeSource Building Products Inc. It is available in a general purpose laminating grade, a specially-treated grade for painting and printing applications and a moisture-resistant flooring grade.

Pickering's flooring is available in 20 woodgrains, four small accent tiles to be used with the woodgrains, and 16 large, American stone designer tiles.
