The Maids International franchises The Maids Home Services, a residential cleaning service. It serves more than 800 markets in the US and Canada with its 22-step Healthy Touch deep cleaning system, which lists the services the workers perform in every room -- from removing cobwebs, window-washing, and carpet cleaning, to disinfecting floors, changing furnace filters, and cleaning showers and tubs. CEO Daniel Bishop founded the company in 1979 and began franchising in 1980.

The Maids Home Services fell in our overall ranking this year based on its flat growth. However, the company’s financial strength ranking improved from #103 to #43, which kept it in our top 100.

Requiring a full-time commitment and high net worth, The Maids attracts high-caliber franchisees. In 2009 The Maids received Franchise Business Review’s Franchise 50® franchise award, ranking 28th in the overall large systems category.

The Maids also boasts longevity. In business since 1979 and franchising since 1980, it is still run by the original founder.

The company is listed on the SBA’s Franchise Registry and offers discounts off the franchise fee to qualified veterans and minorities through the IFA’s VetFran and MinorityFran programs.
