This family-owned franchisor launched 50 years ago with one location in Detroit. Since then, that family recipe for honey-glazed ham has grown into a franchise chain that offers four ways for franchisees to generate revenue: retail, catering, gifts and the dine-in Honeybaked Ham Café. A fast-casual restaurant, the Café features no messy grills or fryers and limited staffing requirements, making it simpler to operate than typical restaurants. In 1998, the company began franchising when it bought Hickory Ham, a Southeastern-based franchise; in 2002, it bought its largest competitor, Heavenly Ham.
