Tasti D-Lite
Perhaps not surprisingly for a frozen dessert, word-of-mouth has been a big factor in the growth of Tasti D-Lite. Launched in 1987, Tasti D-Lite grew from its roots in New York City thanks to a large and loyal customer base who lined up to get their Tasti fix. Neither ice cream nor yogurt, Tasti D-Lite is a “guilt-free,” low-fat, low-calorie treat that was developed by a food technologist. The company’s goal is to provide great-tasting, healthy treats; in addition to its signature dessert, Tasti D-Lite has recently added new products such as fruit smoothies, low-calorie cakes and pies, and granola parfaits. In 2007, the company was acquired by a New York private equity firm and became Tasti D-Lite LLC.
