Mr. Handyman wants to help with odd jobs. The company offers a variety of home services, including carpentry (cabinets, trim, crown molding), repair (doors, windows, drywall, floors, ceilings), and maintenance (gutters, weather proofing, insulation). Mr. Handyman has more than 270 franchise locations in more than 35 states in the US as well as in Canada. Founded in 2000, it is a part of Service Brands International, a group of service companies that includes residential cleaning services provider Molly Maid and drycleaners 1-800-DryClean and Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network.

While Mr. Handyman’s growth ranking is down (from #94 to #137), its financial strength ranking is up (from #243 to a respectable #159), bumping it up on our AllStar list.

Mr. Handyman has a presence all over the U.S. and the world, including locations in Canada, Ireland, the U.K., and China. Now, the company is planning to expand in a different way: by going after commercial accounts, which currently make up only 10 percent of its business. This huge untapped market could boost franchisees’ revenues in the coming years.

The Mr. Handyman franchise can be run from home. The company offers in-house financing, is on the SBA’s Franchise Registry, and participates in the IFA’s VetFran program.
