GNC
What's good for the customer is good for GNC Corporation (formerly General Nutrition Centers). With outlets in all 50 U.S. states and Canada, and franchised stores in some 50 foreign markets, GNC is the leading nutritional-supplements retail chain devoted solely to items such as vitamins and dietary products. The company also has stores within Rite Aid drugstores and makes Rite Aid private-label products.
As a top seller of vitamins and nutritional supplements, entrepreneurs who invest in a GNC franchise benefit from the company's high brand awareness (#17), solid longevity (#28), and strong Web visibility (#17).
GNC company highlights for 2011 included the completion of an IPO, the acquisition of e-commerce site LuckyVitamin.com, and the launch of a fortified coconut water drink through a partnership with PepsiCo. Looking ahead, GNC aims to continue its aggressive pace of adding at least 100 new stores a year, and also plans to increase its presence in China.
GNC offers direct financing for the conversion of corporate stores to franchises. The franchisor is also listed on the SBA's Franchise Registry and participates in the IFA's VetFran program.
