The company was formed in 1993 by combining Guest Quarters (Boston) and Doubletree Hotels (Phoenix), and was acquired by Hilton Hotels in 1999. Investment firm The Blackstone Group purchased Hilton in 2007 in a deal worth more than $20 billion.
