When times are tough, sometimes the only thing that can get us out of our funk is to get out of ourselves, and give a little back. When we give back, we don’t have time to settle into the “poor me’s.” When we do something for someone else, either as part of a group effort, or individually, we tend to forget about our own “huge” problems, and focus on someone else’s problems. Helping others is always a great thing, and one that offers a welcome change to our routines. {Of course the most important thing is that others are being helped}
Yes. You are seeing a little of my soft side. Enjoy!
Let’s talk about some franchise industry winner’s. The ones who are giving back…
SuperCoups' has an eight month-long sweepstakes promotion, entitled "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Win,"
It is focused on pediatric cancer research. This is the 2nd year that SuperCoups’ is involved in helping raise awareness and money for pediatric cancer research. In 4 short years, Alexandra "Alex" Scott, raised over $1 million for pediatric cancer research with her lemonade stand idea that spread throughout the country. Alex passed away peacefully in 2004, but her “Lemonade Stand” stays alive in her memory. Read more about the contest, here. way to go, SuperCoups!
Across the Atlantic, a franchise by the name of ChariSnack supports the brilliant work of the National Blind Children’s Society (NBCS) by making a donation to the charity for every single packet of snacks purchased by it's customers. It’s website states that:
“These donations do not in any way affect the profits that our franchisees make because the donations are made directly to NBCS by ChariSnack on a monthly basis, as the products are ordered.”
Sometimes, a franchise company’s headquarters is in the middle of a disaster…literally. Express Personnel is headquartered in Oklahoma, and was definitely right in the thick of things last December, after some terrible ice storms hit. This is what Bob Funk, the CEO did:
“To assist those in need after the recent ice storms in Oklahoma, Express Services, Inc. has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. These funds will go toward supplying food, clothing and blankets to ice storm victims.”
There were over 100,000 people without power in Oklahoma, in the dead of winter.
Express's website has an entire page dedicated to "corporate citizenship." Look!
