Why This Company Makes Our AllStar List
Recently named one of North Carolina's top privately held companies, Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits is continuing steady growth in key Southeast states, such as the Carolinas, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.
In 2007, CEO Randy Kibler came on board. Armed with tons of restaurant chain experience, he drafted a five-year plan to grow 50 stores each year. Kibler has already made significant changes to the company's marketing strategy by sticking to its core menu and most popular basics, but has added salads to draw in new health-conscious customers. He also recently signed a deal to have the historic Charlotte Coliseum renamed Bojangles' Coliseum. According to Kibler, "We are two Charlotte originals."
Also bolstering the chain's popularity is Bojangles' popularity on the social networking site Facebook. Several groups who share a love of Bojangles' have cropped up on the site since last year. One group describes itself as "dedicated to the down South Cajun fried chicken restaurant that anybody who's ever been there knows what I'm talking about!" Not to miss a great viral marketing opportunity, Bojangles now links these pages to its own Web site and can follow and answer such discussions as where to buy the chain's special seasoning. Soon the company will add information such as local restaurant events to the page.
