The Mandarin Oriental Hotel off Miami's financial district is known for its award-winning Azul restaurant. But just downstairs is a flavorful fusion of tastes -- Cafe Sambal -- which more faithfully reflects the hotel's Eastern mystique.

Cafe Sambal, housed in the tony Mandarin Oriental hotel on Brickell Key, takes its namesake from a spice paste commonly found in Indonesia, Malaysia and parts of India. While the recently revamped menu no longer carries dishes that use the spice, the name still conveys what the restaurant is all about: an eclectic mix of Eastern cuisine
