Sometimes It's The Little Things You Don't Do

How many numerals does your organization's street address have?

More

How many numerals are there in your organization's street address. More than two?

I'm not going to tell you how, but I came into possession of a gift card to Subway Sandwich Shops. Friday, I decided to eat there. But the one I usually go to is across from a high school and it's packed during the noon hour. So I went to Subway's Web site and used their restaurant locator to find another location.

The problem was, all it gave me was a street address and a phone number. I wasn't sure which direction the store was in and I never call a restaurant during the noon hour. What I was looking for was the now very common Google map link that would have showed me all of the store locations in my community.

Sort of like the one Starbucks.com has.

The more difficult you make it for your customers to find you, the fewer will show up on your doorstep. If you have more than two digits in your street address, you should have either a link to a map or mention a cross-street or nearby intersection. There's nothing wrong with saying, "...At the corner of Hwy 290 E and Springdale Road."

Remove the obstacles. Make sure your Web site is as up to date as you can afford. Espcially for such basic information as directions.

Glenn
