Little Caesar Enterprises Inc.'s slice of the market pie dwindled for the eighth year in a row, but the slowing economy may be a boon for the struggling pizza chain.

Detroit-based Little Caesar was overtaken by rival Papa John's International Inc. as the nation's No. 3 pizza chain, according to figures released last week by Technomic Inc., a Chicago-based consulting and research firm.
