McDonald's to Close Downtown Madison, Wis., Location.

Apr. 20--Say goodbye to McDonald's on the Capitol Square.

A popular pit stop for thousands of schoolchildren who troop Downtown for a dose of history and culture, the McDonald's fast-food restaurant at 20 W. Mifflin St. will close May 15.

The Rifken Group, a Madison development company, bought the property and wants to turn it into a more upscale eatery aimed at adults, owner and president Marty Rifken says.

The news may send groans through the ranks of teachers, student
