Govt. food subsidies.

Prime Minister Bruce Golding announced that government will subsidize five basic food items as part of measures to ease the effects of rising food prices on the poor, reports JIS (Jan. 11, 2008). Industry, Commerce & Investment Minister Karl Samuda, said the items to be subsidized until the

end of the current fiscal year (March 31) are: counter and baking flour, bulk rice, cooking oil, and milk powder.
