Venture Investing Reaches Highest Level Since 2002, According to MoneyTree Report
The second quarter of 2006 proved fertile for U.S. companies seeking venture funding, according to the MoneyTree Report compiled by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the National Venture Capital Association and based on data by Thomson Financial, growing to $6.3 billion in 856 deals, representing a 2 percent increase in dollars and a 5 percent increase in deals from the prior quarter. The increase was driven by investments in the biotechnology, industrial/energy and networking and equipment sectors, all showing slight gains in the quarter.
