LEVERAGE THE INTERNET FOR GOOD DEEDS

Credit unions raised and distributed more than $3 million through the National Credit Union Foundation to help credit unions and their employees affected by Hurricane Katrina. While this was an unprecedented amount for the credit union system, virtually none

of these funds was raised via the Internet. Yet nearly half the $2 billion raised by the American Red Cross came through its online giving portal.

Steve Delfin, NCUF executive director and chairman of the board of trustees for the ePhilanthropy Foundation, will moderate a panel discussion by experts in online giving during CUES' CEO Network 2006, Nov. 12-15 in Carlsbad, Calif. The panel will explore trends in online philanthropy and how credit union leaders can leverage the power of the Internet for their charitable support programs, including disaster relief fundraising.

Other sessions tapped for this year's CEO Network include: "EQ, Not IQ: The Key to CEO Effectiveness," which will be led by Kent Stickler, president of Stickler Learning, Clearwater, Fla., "Mavericks at Work-The New Business Agenda," led by Bill Taylor, founding editor of Fast Company magazine, and "Inspiring Innovation-A case Study," led by Stefanie Norvaisas, director of consumer research, and Julie Norvaisas, senior research specialist at Design Concepts, Inc., Madison, Wis.
