Meet Scott Polakoff, FDIC Regional Director
Scott M. Polakoff is the Regional Director, Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection, for the FDIC. As part of an FDIC reorganization, the Memphis region is gone, and Kentucky was consolidated into the Chicago region. "It's a natural fit for Kentucky to come to Chicago, given geographic and economic similarities," said Polakoff, who hopes to foster a closer relationship between the FDIC and Kentucky's banking industry.
Armed with an accounting degree from West Chester University, West Chester, Pennsylvania, Polakoff is also a graduate of the Southwesten Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, Dallas and a 1998 graduate of the Federal Executive Institute's "Leadership for a Democratic Society" in Charlottesville, Virginia. A career bank examiner, he started his career with the FDIC in 1983 as a trainee bank examiner in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As he climbed the ladder, he took on positions of increasing responsibility, including review examiner in Dallas, assistant to the executive director in Washington, DC, assistant regional director in Atlanta and deputy regional director for the New York region. He assumed his current duties in January 1998.
