South Dakota bank to institute name change
Commercial Bank of Mitchell, S.D. will be changing its name to First National Bank South Dakota. The change will take place over several months with a target completion date set for October 10. Likewise, Commercial Bank Insurance will change its name to First National Insurance along the same timeline.
Commercial Bank has been a division of First National Bank South Dakota since the two banks merged in November of 1999. To avoid customer confusion, Commercial Bank kept its name. The name change is an effort to cosmetically align the branch with its holding company, First National of Nebraska, and its 11 other affiliate bank systems in Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas and Texas.
"With this change, we hope to communicate to our customers the benefits and services associated with being part of an $11 billion national organization and a $500 million local banking institution," said Mike Rieck, president of Commercial Bank.
"As part of First National of Nebraska we are large enough to provide an excellent array of services, yet we're still part of a privately-held company," said Rieck. "Not only will they have greater flexibility in services across the Midwest through our affiliates, including account access at other locations, but they will be able to see the same faces they've been acquainted with in our Mitchell banks."
