MGE Architects & Robins and Morton Receive Construction Award

MGE Architects announces it has co-received the Excellence in Construction Award for Wuesthoff Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla., with general contractor firm Robins & Morton. The award was presented at the 2006 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) National Convention in Las Vegas. The award

recognizes the 39,000-sq.-ft., third-floor addition to Wuesthoff Medical Center that includes new patient rooms and a new intensive care unit. Construction of the $8.4-million addition began in late April 2004 and was completed in January 2005.

"This award is an example of our capabilities and achievements in healthcare design," says Rolando Conesa, a principal with MGE Architects. "Wuesthoff Medical Center is a perfect example of our healthcare planning expertise. We designed the original hospital with the knowledge that the hospital would need to expand and in less than two years we designed a third floor."

ABC's 16th annual Excellence in Construction awards program recognizes the nation's outstanding construction projects. Winning companies are selected from more than 300 entries that have received awards at the local or regional level. Award categories include mega-projects, commercial, electrical, historical renovation, industrial, mechanical, public works/environment and other specialty construction.
