Adam Tihany Celebrates Restaurant Design at the Salone
From April 14-19, architect Adam D. Tihany will present Dining Design, his second major exhibition, held in conjunction with the Milan Furniture Fair. Widely known for conceiving several of the world's foremost restaurant and hotel interiors, Tihany's interactive, open-to-the-public exhibit (Pavilion
9) will serve up a variety of intriguing components intended to tantalize the senses.
"Restaurants have become one of the most significant cultural barometers of our time," notes Tihany, in explaining the focus of this year's exhibit. In its quest to explore the essential elements of restaurant design, Dining Design will open with an unusual retrospective: restaurant chairs. These iconic 19th- and 20th-century chairs span the work of noteworthy designers, from Charles Rennie MacIntosh to Philippe Starck.
