WARREN, N.J. -- AppliedSensor, a designer and manufacturer of chemical sensor components and intelligent indoor air quality (iAQ) modules, announced today that evaluation units of its new Air Monitor are ready to ship to qualified distributors for retail sale to end users. The Air Monitor plugs into a computer's USB port to alert users to subtle changes in air quality. An embedded LED display glows green when air quality is good, while a yellow or red light indicates fair or poor air quality, respectively.

AppliedSensor's Air Monitor is one of the first consumer products with the ability to detect the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as bio-effluents, smoke, building materials, paints and cleaning supplies in surrounding air. Bio-effluents are the cause of unpleasant odors. Paint and cleaning supplies can emit gasses that are harmful to humans. Plus, numerous studies by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have linked indoor air pollution to illnesses, lost productivity and increased sick leave.

"There's been so much attention paid to polluted outdoor air, yet many Americans spend between 70 and 90 percent of their time indoors," said AppliedSensor, Inc. CEO Tom Aiken. "Now that the EPA has addressed the effects of indoor air pollution, concerned consumers can use our Air Monitor to gauge the quality of the air in their home, car, or wherever there's a computer with a USB port."

AppliedSensor's Air Monitor is available for private labeling and distribution with price determined by quantity. The unit includes a one-year warranty. Distributors can call AppliedSensor in the U.S. at (908) 222-1477, international +49 (7121) 514 86 11, or email info@appliedsensor.com. Prequalified distributors can download software online.
