MidAmerican Energy is trying to add 64 wind turbines to its roster in Pottawattamie, as it works towards its goal of 780 turbines in operation, in Iowa, by the end of the year. They have 142 turbines in place in North-Central Iowa, with another 260 being built. Each turbine costs $2 million, and will generate power with winds from 8 to 40 mph. The entire project is estimated to generate 96 Megawatts annually.
