MidAmerican Wants To Add More Wind

MidAmerican Energy is trying to add 64 wind turbines to its roster in Pottawattamie, as it works towards its goal of 780 turbines in operation, in Iowa, by the end of the year.  They have 142 turbines in place in North-Central Iowa, with another 260 being built.  The Pottawattamie project is just waiting to work through some red tape with county officials, as they decide what kind of tax incentives can be offered, but the project is expected to receive a green light, with construction starting this summer.  Each turbine costs $2 million, and will generate power with winds from 8 to 40 mph.  The entire project is estimated to generate 96 Megawatts annually.
