Study Shows Air Pollution Changes Shape of Atmosphere.

Jul. 25--Greenhouse gases and industrial pollution are not only changing the makeup of the atmosphere, but altering its structure.

Scientists reported Thursday that the "tropopause," the portion of the atmosphere that forms a lid on most of the planet's weather, has increased in height dramatically in the last 20 years --- a change they say is directly linked to ozone depletion and increases in greenhouse gases.
