Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Southern California to start construction of major distribution center in Coachella
Tuesday, February 24 2009
One of a very small number of new major commercial construction projects in the Coachella Valley begins Thursday, February 19 in Coachella when the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Southern California and the city of Coachella celebrate the groundbreaking of a 60,000-square-foot, regional Coca-Cola distribution center. The new facility will be built in the city's eastern industrial sector on a 7.8 acre site in the Rancho Coachella Business Park located at 86-375 Industrial Way.
The environmentally-friendly development will become the first Coca-Cola Enterprises Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver-certified facility in the United States.
The distribution facility will employ 100 people and serve the entire Coachella Valley. The move will enable a large number of employees of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Southern California to work closer to their homes in the Eastern Coachella Valley, thus reducing the carbon emissions created by daily cross-valley commutes.
