Green Funerals are gaining momentum, and that means a whole new line of products and services for the grieving. The Natural Death Center's Green Funeral Exhibition, in London last weekend, provided a showcase for businesses in green grieving. There are cardboard coffins that family members can hand decorate, and there are wicker coffins, decorated with flowers, that will biodegrade within months. Since marble is not renewable, marble headstones are “frowned upon”, as are limousines in the funeral procession and formaldehyde in the body preparation. Prices for green funerals range across the spectrum, not necessarily cheaper, not necessarily pricey, just dependent upon the choices the family makes.
