SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2002
eNature.com, the most extensive and dynamic source of information about nature on the Web, today announced it received the People's Voice Award for the Best Education Web site
eNature was selected as the top educational Internet resource by voters in the People's Voice award. Each year the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences grants the awards to sites that exemplify the very best that the Internet has to offer and strives to recognize those organizations that do what the Web does best -- connecting, building communities, entertaining, and enhancing everyday life.
"We are thrilled that, through the Internet, we can help people connect with nature and provide an educational resource that promotes the appreciation of wildlife and wild places," said Chris Krueger, eNature Executive Producer. "It is an honor to be recognized by the Academy and by the online community in this way."
Krueger accepted the award by encouraging the audience to get involved in wildlife conservation efforts and urging them to support the National Wildlife Federation, eNature's parent company.
Awarded for providing world class nature content, eNature enables Web surfers to discover nature across the continent and close to home. More than 5,000 North American species are presented on the site, with full-color photographs and descriptions. Online field guides offer comprehensive listings of birds, mammals, butterflies, wildflowers, native plants and trees, insects, and much more. The site also features a library of over 500 bird calls, guides to National Parks and Refuges and a Backyard Habitat Planner.
eNature.com has been helping Web visitors discover the wonders of nature since its founding in 2000. Now wholly-owned by the not-for-profit National Wildlife Federation (NWF), eNature plays a critical role in NWF's mission of educating, inspiring and assisting people of all ages in appreciating and ultimately protecting wildlife, wild places, and the natural resources on which all life depends.
