I couldn't agree with you more. I'm from California where the pollution has continued to increase over the years with very little end insight if we don't do something about it. Recently an associate of mine told me about a Web Conferencing Service that he'd been using called www.ciaoconferencing.com and for the 3 months I have cut my travel expense and time on the road in half by using there service. I couldn't be happier with my new found freedom or the knowledge of knowing that I'm attempting to do my part in going green. I would highly recommend Ciao Conferencing for you and anyone else who is looking to make a difference.

More Businesses Choosing Conferencing Over Travel
You're so right Ghislaine - Those tchotchkes are unbelievable lol! They are starting to get more attention though - people coming up with new, greener, alternatives - I'm sure we'll be hearing more about them.

Putting the Green into the Conference Scene
Conferences and conventions must be extremely wasteful -- I imagine that your average corporate convention or industry gathering is much worse than, say, a large public entertainment event. I always marvel at the number of cheap plastic tchotchkes that are given out at conventions. Those alone create massive waste -- and then there's all the material involved in the staging of the event, the feeding of the attendees, and -- whew! We're probably a long time from a massive reduction in the wastefulness of such events, but it's good to hear that there's a start in the right direction.
