John Rzeznik, lead singer of multi-platinum rock act the Goo Goo Dolls, has written and recorded two brand-new songs, "I'm Still Here" and "Always Know Where You Are,"
TREASURE PLANET is a futuristic twist on one of the greatest stories ever told -- Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island." The film follows rebellious teen Jim Hawkins as he takes a fantastic journey across a parallel universe in search of the greatest pirate trove in the galaxy.
"Jim became a real person to me," says Rzeznik, as he describes the inspiration behind the song, "I'm Still Here." "He goes on an adventure to find his real identity, and though he winds up with a few scars, he becomes a man. It's a great story and the animation is absolutely mind-blowing. I was extremely excited to be involved with this project."
Rzeznik's second song off TREASURE PLANET is "Always Know Where You Are." Rzeznik recorded the song for the silver screen, but platinum Hollywood Records recording artists BBMak perform the soundtrack version. The additional music on TREASURE PLANET is scored by Oscar(R)-nominated composer James Newton Howard.
Acclaimed music video director Tim Hope (Coldplay, Jimmy Eat World) delivers a stunning, groundbreaking clip for the single "I'm Still Here." The single impacts at Top 40 Radio on October 7.
Ron Clements & John Musker, the acclaimed writing/directing team responsible for THE LITTLE MERMAID, ALADDIN and HERCULES, directed TREASURE PLANET.
The soundtrack is scheduled for release on November 17, 2002, on Walt Disney Records. Walt Disney Pictures' TREASURE PLANET opens in theatres nationwide on Wednesday, November 27, 2002.
