RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 13, 1997--John E. Manczak will join Carolina Power & Light June 16 as senior vice president of the company's Retail Sales & Service Group.
The group will include a number of functions from CP&L's current Customer Services Group, including the company's regional business development and community relations functions, as well as marketing, consumer sales, economic development and energy services.
CP&L also announced the forming of an Energy Delivery Group, which will include the new CP&L Customer Service Center in Raleigh, as well as the Distribution Engineering & Operations and Transmission departments.
Manczak comes to CP&L from Consumers Energy of Jackson, Mich., where he was vice president of retail services. Consumers Energy is an investor-owned electric and gas utility and principal subsidiary of CMS Energy with more than 3.1 million customers.
Before going to Consumers Energy, Manczak had served in a variety of executive positions with UtiliCorp and its subsidiaries. He also was marketing manager with Northern Natural Gas in Omaha, Neb., vice president of marketing and sales with Sheldon Corp. in Elgin, Ill., and held various positions in engineering and sales with Westinghouse Electric.
He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Illinois.
CP&L has not named a senior vice president to head the Energy Delivery Group.
CP&L provides electricity and energy services to more than 1.1 million customers - representing about 3.75 million people - in the Carolinas.
