Aug. 2--The town of Badin has seen better summers. The population of 1,147 is normally joined by throngs who come for boating, swimming and fishing.
But two recent measures by Alcoa officials have hit the town where it works and plays.
Alcoa officials say decreasing profits and an extended drought led to the closings of their aluminum smelter plant as well as a popular recreation area within the past week.
