SOFC: DOE Initiates Two Coal-Fueled Projects.
With the ink barely dry on the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the DOE National Energy Technology Laboratory (David Anna, NETL, U.S. Dept. of Energy, 3610 Collins Ferry Road, Morgantown, WV 26507; Tel: 412/386-4646; email: anna@netl.doe.gov; www.fossil.energy.gov) has announced Phase I projects for fueling SOFC power plants with gasified coal. The work that will be carried out is an extension to centralized power plants of the progress made by the DOE Solid State Energy Conversion Alliance (SECA).
