PROJECT OVERVIEW

In June 2004, Canada-based ALCAN INC., the local OMAN OIL CO. (OOC) and ABU DHABI WATER & ELECTRICITY AUTHORITY (ADWEA) signed an agreement with SOHAR ALUMINIUM CO. L.L.C. regarding the construction of an aluminum complex to be subsequently operated by SOHAR.

Construction plans under consideration call for building the smelter adjacent the Sohar industrial zone. The planned facility will have an installed production capacity of 350,000 tons per year. The development will also involve building a captive 1,000 Mw power station. In so doing, t
