Commission Postpones Decision on Cal Water's 2001 Rate Cases.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2003

California Water Service Group (NYSE:CWT) (Company) announced today that the California Public Utilities Commission (Commission) has postponed consideration of the Company's 2001 rate cases until September 4, 2003.

The Company cannot predict whether the Commission will issue a decision on September 4, 2003, but when a decision is made, new rates will be effective as of April 3, 2003.

California Water Service Group is the parent company of California Water Service Company, Washington Water Service Company, New Mexico Water Service Company, Hawaii Water Service Company, Inc., and CWS Utility Services.
