Some days you run across something that makes you remember just how much we take for granted, like flicking on a switch. Indiabuzzing has a nice article on a small village in the Sundarbans that runs completely on alternative energy. Six years ago, there wasn’t such a thing as electricity here, and there was no running water. Now they have 6 hours of electricity a day, which means that the school is getting computers, students can study longer, and homes can enjoy things like fans and refrigerators.
So although this one has really nothing to do with business, I think it’s a good reminder that while alternative energy will allow us to continue powering all of our gadgets, it’s also providing a gateway for people around the world to improve their lives.
