So Busy That They're Running Out Of Solar Panels

Thursday, May 8 2008

I always like reporting a success story, and here’s one out of Atwater California.  Sunburst Solar, which designs and installs solar systems, has seen a nice upclick in demand this spring.  In fact, the entire industry is so busy that some solar panel dealers are out of stock for the rest of the year.

Sunburst’s owner, Bill Machado, says that his customers are looking for ways to help the environment as much as they are searching for energy savings.  That why he takes the time to let his clients know that their small solar system translates into 1.8 acres of trees saved, or that hooking their water pump through solar is saving 663,249 miles of driving.

The systems are expected to last 25 years and after rebates and tax credits, a system large enough to power your home and pool will cost around $38,000; but you can expect energy bills of less then $15.  Machado estimates the investment pays for itself it under 10 years.
