Subsequent to a 2-year delay the local KUWAIT PETROLEUM CORP. finally approved construction plans to build new aromatics complex in Kuwait. In so doing, the project is to be implemented by its subsidiary, PETROCHEMICALS INDUSTRIES CO. (PIC)

Development plans call for investing $1,500,000,000 in order to build the new manufacturing base. The facility in question, to be sited at Shuaiba, will reportedly include a 600,000 metric ton per year para-xylene unit.
