Leverage Current Events To Showcase Your Business

Friday, June 27 2008

Who's not feeling the pain of high gas prices? Since this is "top of the news" these days, it's a good idea for you to figure out how you can spin it into something good for your customers -- and your business.

That's exactly what EVOS restaurants has done. Located in Tampa, FL (my back yard!), EVOS offers a full menu of burgers, fries, and shakes that have 50-70% less fat and calories without sacrificing taste.

They decided to give people a break from the pain of high gas prices so they're allowing customers to “fuel up” for free later this month. Customers can bring in any gasoline receipt over $25 (that's easy to do) in exchange for a free, low fat, organic milkshake. The offer is good at all stores in Tampa/St. Petersburg from Saturday, June 28 through Tuesday, July 1 in case you're in the area.

“Everyone is complaining about high gas prices, so we thought we would give them a break with some ‘alternative fuel’ – our organic milkshakes,” said EVOS co-founder Dino Lambridis.

Dino is pretty smart to take this approach. He's tapping into what's top-of-mind for everyone, focusing on the WIIFM (What's In It For Me) of his customers and getting a lot of free press (and probably new customers) who never heard of EVOS before.

Who would have thought fast food could be tied to gasoline? Not many people. So how can you tie what you sell into current events? Start brainstorming and put this idea to work for your business - now.
