Oregon wineries go green.

Seventeen Oregon wineries have accepted a challenge from Governor Ted Kulongoski, the Oregon Environmental Council and the Oregon Wine Board to make their operations more environmentally friendly. In the first stage of the Carbon Neutral Challenge Initiative, the Energy Trust of Oregon will provide

free energy audits; the second step is to assess each winery's greenhouse gas footprint, using an easy-to-use tool designed for the industry. Wineries will then develop carbon reduction plans to implement energy efficiency measures. Purchasing carbon offsets will be an option.
